Do you dream about converting your garage into a guest room or enclosing your patio for year-round use? Is there a home addition on your drawing board or an attic upgrade in the works?
If the thought of heating and cooling your new living space is keeping you up at night, it is time to go ductless.

At Dana’s Heating & Cooling, a full-service heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) company, our highly trained professionals are certified by North American Technician Excellence (NATE), the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and Performance Tested Comfort Systems (PTCS). Our electricians are licensed and compliant with Washington State. We have the expertise and experience to handle all your HVAC needs and pride ourselves on being prompt as well as getting the job done in a timely fashion with quality workmanship.

Why a Ductless System?

Our expert team can help make your home improvement dreams come true with a duct-free alternative. Your new addition, room conversion, or enclosure is a perfect candidate for a flexible ductless system, also known as a mini split, that works powerfully and efficiently to achieve a high level of comfort in your Port Orchard, WA home.

Ductless systems work well anywhere in your home where extending furnace and air conditioning air ducts would be impractical or too costly. Rooms and areas in your home that could benefit from this alternative HVAC system would be a garage, a basement, infrequently used rooms, an attic, and areas with hot and cold spots.

Some Washington homeowners prefer installing ductless systems throughout their new homes in lieu of a traditional furnace and air conditioner. These HVAC powerhouses offer flexibility for location installation as well as offering high efficiency.

Ductless System Installation

Ductless systems are very compact and typically mount on the wall or ceiling. The indoor unit, an air handler, distributes the hot or cool air it receives from the outdoor unit, which consists of a condenser and compressor. The indoor and outdoor units are connected by a copper tubing line through which refrigerant circulates between the coils of both units.

Our experienced team of experts will install one or more indoor units in your home, depending on your unique needs, and connect them to the same outdoor unit (up to eight indoor units per every outdoor unit). When we are working with multiple units at once, our HVAC team is creating a zone control system that allows you to heat and cool various locations simultaneously.

The ductless system is a heat pump that does the work of what both the furnace and air conditioner do in a more traditional HVAC system. This versatile system saves money and energy since, as a heat pump, it does not actually create hot or cold air. It merely transfers heat from outdoors to indoors during cold weather and sends your indoor hot air outside when outdoor temperatures rise.

Ductless systems are easy to install. They require a small hole in your wall for placement, compared to the many air duct wall and ceiling vent openings required for a traditional HVAC system installation.

If you need to finance your new ductless HVAC system, we can make it happen. We have several options to make your purchase as accessible as possible. Just speak with one of our Dana’s Heating & Cooling team members to discuss how we can help.

Ductless System Repair

Ductless systems are sturdy and rarely require repairs, but if something should be amiss, it is best to not wait to call us to diagnose the issue. In most cases, needed repairs evolve into more serious and costly concerns.

Get in touch with us when you first notice an issue. We will promptly assess and repair the problem, getting your system back to working correctly in no time. Your comfort is everything to us.

Ductless System Maintenance

A ductless system, like any HVAC equipment in your home, requires maintenance to ensure it operates at peak efficiency. You can turn maintenance into a healthy habit by regularly cleaning filters, removing dust from around your HVAC system, and scheduling our HVAC professionals to perform tune-ups and inspections on a regular basis.

With our maintenance agreement plan, our Ultimate Savings Agreement (USA), you can leave the responsibility of your maintenance to us. We will contact you when it is time for your maintenance appointment.

Keeping your ductless system properly maintained saves you money overall. Regular maintenance helps your system’s efficiency, helps reduce unexpected costly repairs, and helps increase its life span. It will also keep you compliant with your manufacturer’s warranty.

FAQs

Are ductless systems for both heating and cooling or just cooling, like air conditioners?
These compact heat pumps are so versatile, there are models operating as both a heating and cooling system and then those for cooling only. If you are considering a ductless system for your home, talk to one of our heating and cooling professionals to discuss your options.

How many ductless systems do I need for my home?
In general terms, you want one indoor unit for each room or area you want heated and/or cooled. If you plan to heat and cool your entire home with mini splits, you are going to want to set up a zone control system with your indoor units. Depending on your unique needs, you may not require a unit for each area.

On the other hand, if you are looking to heat and/or cool one or two separate rooms in your home, then yes, you will need individual indoor ductless systems for each room. Typically, up to eight indoor units can connect to your one outdoor unit. We recommend speaking with one of our experts to address your individual situation.

Are ductless systems more efficient than more traditional HVAC systems?
Because ductless systems do not require the use of air ducts, you are not going to lose potential energy through duct leaks. This alone is an efficiency advantage over more traditional HVAC systems.
